Gerard Basset

Profile: Gérard Basset was born in France but, a convinced Anglophile, has lived and worked in England since he left school. His original ambition was to become a sommelier, which he did, eventually rising to become head sommelier and Chewton Glen, Hampshire. He was a co-founder of the Hotel du Vin Chain, and when that was sold established a new hotel and restaurant in the New Forest - Terravina. He is several times world and European Champion sommelier, and in 2010 became the world champion. He is also the only man in the world to hold the degrees of MW, MS and the wine MBA. More

Dev Biswal

Profile: Dev Biswal grew up in Calcutta. He trained at the Dubai Sheraton, before moving to London in 2003, aged 26, for spells at Mangoes and Eriki. He is also a director of Quex Park, with responsibility for catering. Quex House, in 1800 acres of countryside in Birchington, is home to the Powell-Cotton Museum. Dev has declared war on poppadums and curry and is on a mission to drag Indian restaurants out of their "1940s time bubble" and cheap fast food mentality. More

Profile: A popular regular on UK cookery shows, Gino was born in Torre del Greco, Napoli and arrived in England in 1995, where he worked at The Orchard Restaurant in Hampstead and the Cambio Restaurant in Guildford. An involvement with the 'wrong people' landed him a spell at Her Majesty's Pleasure but the sojourn resolved his mind and set him on a new course to succeed. Michael Caines MBE

Profile: Michael Caines MBE is a two-Michelin-starred chef at Gidleigh Park, Devon, and also oversees the Michael Caines chain of restaurants in the Abode Hotel Group. After a distinguished career at iconic restaurants in the UK and France he was appointed head chef at Gidleigh in 1994, but lost his right arm in a road accident just a few weeks later. Undaunted, he returned to the kitchen full-time four weeks after the accident, and subsequently won the second Michelin star in 1999. He was Chef of the Year in 2001 and comes from Exeter. More
